Martin Luther
“When Martin Luther led the Reformation, he made the observation that to understand the content of the Word of God is the single most important thing in our Christian development. Yet he went on to say, ‘In second place is music.’”

How to Work Today....
Open the Door to Blessing
TODAY’S SCRIPTURE
“Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with all your might...”
(Ecclesiastes 9:10, NIV)
TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria
Did you know that when you do something to the best of your ability because you want to honor God, it opens the door to His blessing? That means it will be easier, it will go better, and you will accomplish more. That’s why no matter what we do, we should give it our best. This is especially true even in the little things.
For example, when you’re doing the dishes or mowing the lawn, don’t drag around sour and frustrated. Mow with enthusiasm! Mow it like you’re on a mission from God. With every step, thank God that your legs work. Thank Him that you’re healthy and strong. At the office, don’t just do enough to get by. You’re not working unto people, you’re working unto God.
Do it with your whole heart. When you volunteer at church, don’t wake up and think, “Awe, man. Why did I volunteer? I want to sleep in!” No, serve Him with all your heart because that's what honors God. When you honor God, He’ll honor you. He’ll give you His life, peace, health and blessing now and forevermore!
A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Father God, thank You for Your hand of blessing on my life. I choose today to serve You with my whole heart and do everything to the best of my ability. Thank You for Your faithfulness to me in Jesus’ name. Amen.

A Letter from Michael - A Christmas Tradition from the Past
When I heard this on the radio last night, I definitely had to find the letter and share it here...it might just change your outlook about how to live each day connected to God and his realm of Angels:

A Letter from Michael
Merry Christmas everybody! My name is Lee Allan, and the story you are about to hear has become a Christmas tradition. It's been broadcast for over 25 years on radio stations all over America. The story was given to me by Ed Harding, news director of a radio station much like this one. It was a copy of a letter, written by a young Marine named Michael, who was hospitalized after being wounded on a Korean battlefield. The letter was written home to his mother, but it was first seen and read by a Navy Chaplain. In the letter, Michael describes what happened to him on that lonely, frozen battlefield. When the Chaplain first saw the letter, he talked with the boy's mother, the sergeant in charge of the boy's patrol, and the patrolled members themselves. Privately, they will all still tell you that what you are about to hear is a true story. Recently read the letter at Christmas time and let it stand on its own merit. The sergeant, the patrol members, and Michael are real people. The story is a letter, a copy of the original. A letter from Michael.
Dear Mom,
I wouldn't dare write this letter to anyone but you because no one else will believe it. Maybe even you will find it hard. But I've got to tell somebody. First off, I'm in a hospital. Now don't worry. You hear me? Don't…don't worry. I…I was wounded, but I'm okay. You understand? Okay. The doctor says I'll be up and around in a month, but that isn't what I want to tell you. Remember when I joined the Marines last year? Remember when I left, how you told me to say a prayer to St. Michael everyday? You really didn't have to tell me that. Ever since I can remember, you always told me to pray to St. Michael the Arc Angel. You even named me after him. Well I always have. When I got to Korea, I prayed even harder. Remember the prayer you taught me? "Michael, Michael of the morning. Fresh court of heaven adorning." You know the rest of it. Well I said it everyday. Sometimes when I was marching. Sometimes, resting. But always before I went to sleep. I even got some of the other fellas to say it. Well, one day I was with an advance detail, way up forward, in the front lines. I was plotting along, in the bitter cold. My breath was like cigar smoke. I thought I knew every guy on the patrol, but along side of me comes another Marine I had never met before. He was bigger than any Marine I had ever seen. He must have been six foot four, and built in proportion. It gave me a feeling of security to have such a buddy near. Anyway, there we were, trudging along, rest of the patrol spread out. Just to start a conversation I said, "Cold! Ain't it?" And then I laughed. Here I was, with a good chance of getting killed any minute, and I'm talking about the weather. My companion seemed to understand. I heard him laugh softly. I looked at him. "I've never seen you before. I thought I knew every man in the outfit." "I just joined at the last minute," he replied. "The name is Michael." "Is that so?" I said. "That's my name, too." "I know," he said. "And then we're on, "Michael, Michael of the morning." I was too amazed to say anything for a minute. How did he know my name? And the prayer that you had taught me. Then I smiled to myself. "Heh". Every guy in the outfit knew about me. Hadn't I taught the prayer to anyone who'd listen? Why now and then, they even referred to me as St. Michael. Neither of us spoke for a time, and then he broke the silence. "We're gonna have some trouble up ahead. He must have been in some fine physical shape, for he was breathing so lightly, I couldn't see his breath. Mine poured out in grape clouds. There was no smile on his face now. Trouble ahead, I thought to myself. Well, with the enemy all around us, that's no great revelation. Snow began to fall, in great thick globs. In a brief moment, the whole countryside was blotted out and I was marching in a white fog of wet, sticky particles. My companion disappeared. "Michael!" I shouted in sudden alarm. I felt his hand on my arm. His voice was rich and strong. "This will stop shortly." His prophecy proved to be correct. In a few moments the snow stopped as abruptly as it had begun. The sun was a hard shining disc. I looked back for the rest of the patrol. There was no one in sight. We lost them in that heavy fall of snow. I looked ahead as we came over a little rise. Mom, my heart stopped. There were seven of them and their padded pants and jackets and funny little hats, only there wasn't anything funny about them now. Seven rifles were aimed at us. "Down Michael!" I screamed and hit the frozen earth. I heard those rifles fire almost as one. I heard the bullets. But there was Michael. Still standing. Mom, those guys couldn’t have missed. Not at that range. I expected to see him literally blown to bits. But there he stood, making no effort to fire himself. He was paralyzed with fear. It happens sometimes, mom, even to the very bravest. He was…he was like a bird, fascinated by a snick. At least, that's what I thought then. I jumped up to pull him down, and felt a sudden flame in my chest. I often wondered what it felt like to be hit. Now I know. I remember feeling strong arms above me. Arms that laid me, ever so gently, on a pillow of snow. I opened my eyes for one last look. I was dying. Maybe I was even dead. I remember thinking well, this isn't so bad. Maybe I was looking into the sun. Maybe I was in shock. But it seemed I saw Michael standing erect again, only this time, his face was shining with terrible splendour. As I say, maybe it was the sun in my eyes, but he seemed to change as I watched him; he grew, bigger. His arms stretched out wide. Maybe it was the snow falling again, but there was a brightness around him; like the wings of an angel. In his hand was a sword. A sword that flashed with a million lights. And that’s the last thing I remember until the rest of the fellas came up and found me. I don't know how much time had passed, but now and then, I had a moment's respite from the pain. I remember telling them that the enemy was just ahead. "Where's Michael?" I asked. I saw them look at one another. "Where's who?" asked one. "Michael". "Michael, that big Marine that I was walking with just before that big snow squall hit us". "Kid," said the sergeant. "You weren't walking with anyone. I had my eyes on you the whole time. You were getting too far out. I was just gonna call you in when you disappeared in the snow." He looked at me, curiously. "How'd you do it kid?" "How'd I do what?" I asked, half angry, despite my wound. "This big Marine named Michael and I were just…" "Son," said the sergeant kindly. "I picked this outfit out myself, and there just ain't another Michael in it. You’re the only Mike in it." He paused for a moment. "Just how'd you do it, kid? We heard shots. There hasn't been a shot fired from your rifle. And there isn't a bit of lead in them seven bodies over the hill there. I didn't say anything. What could I say? I could only look, open-mouthed, with amazement. It was then the sergeant spoke again. "Kid," he said gently. "Every one of those seven bodies over the hill there was killed, by a sword stroke." That's all I could tell you mom. As I say, it may have been the sun in my eyes. It may have been the cold, or the pain. But that’s what happened.
Love,
Michael

A Happiness Thought
If we want to find happiness, let's stop thinking about gratitude or ingratitude and give for the inner joy of giving."

What Were You Thinking this Morning?
“Blessed be the Lord, Who daily loads us with benefits...”(Psalm 68:19, NKJ)
TODAY’S WORD from Joel and Victoria
This morning when you woke up, what was the first thing that went through your mind? Maybe you have a deadline to meet or a to-do list a mile long. Maybe you are facing a challenge or going through a difficulty in a relationship that’s consuming your thoughts.
Today, I want to encourage you, instead of focusing on what your circumstances have to offer, focus on what God has to offer you. His mercies are new every morning, and His compassion never fails. He has victory in store for you today. He has provision in store for you today. He has joy in store for you today, and He has peace in store for you today. He daily loads you with benefits!
The key to “loading up” these daily benefits is setting your focus in the right direction. You can’t wait to see how you feel, what kind of mood your spouse is in, or what the traffic is like. No, you have to set your focus by saying, “This is going to be a great day. I am blessed and cannot be cursed! I know God is directing my steps and something good is going to happen to me today!”
A PRAYER FOR TODAY
Heavenly Father, today I choose to focus on You. I open my heart and mind to receive Your daily benefits. Show me ways to be a blessing to others and use me for Your glory in Jesus’ name. Amen.

The Prayer of Faith
The Prayer of Faith
by Hannah More Kohaus
God is my help in every need;
God does my every hunger feed;
God walks besides me, guides my way
Through every moment of the day.
I now am wise. I now am true,
Patient, kind, and loving too.
All things I am, can do, and be,
Through Christ, the Truth that is in me.
God is my health, I can't be sick;
God is my strength, unfailing, quick;
God is my all, I know no fear,
Since God and love and Truth are here.
Hannah More (February 2, 1745 – September 7, 1833) was an English religious writer, and philanthropist. She can be said to have made three reputations in the course of her long life: as a poet and playwright in the circle of Johnson, Reynolds, and Garrick , as a writer on moral and religious subjects, and as a practical philanthropist.

Take Time for....
Mr. Peale had lunch with a long time friend and started the conversation about a man he had met who siad that "it was impossible to be happy anymore." His longtime friend reached into his pocket and pulled out a card. This is what is said:
- Take Time to Laugh: It is music of the soul.
- Take Time to Play: It is the source of perpetual youth.
- Take Time to Pray: It is the greatest power on Earth.
- Take Time to Love and be Loved: It is a God given priviledge.
- Take Time to be friendly: It is the road to happiness.
- Take Time to Give: It is too short a day to be selfish.
- Take Time for God: It is the way to Life.

Life Lifter - Keep up the Enthusiasm
Years ago, Mr. Peale shares these thoughts:
"Submit to God and be at peace with him; in this way prosperity will come to you. Job 22:21
New International Version (©1984)
Cushion the painful effects of hard blows by keeping enthusiasm going strong, even if doing so requires struggle. The Bible knows the score, the facts of life , so much better than any cynic. The tough-minded optimist views any problem as a challenge to his intelligence, ingenuity, and faith. He keeps on thinking, praying, and believing. He knows there is a solution and so he finally finds it."-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Faith - When I Pray for Healing
I use my faith in positive and intentional ways.
I may consider my faith to be weak or strong. While my faith is strengthened through prayer and attention, I must also make certain that my faith is rightly directed.
I use my faith when I pray for healing, yet I am also using faith when I worry about a loved one. My intention in prayer is to experience a positive result, so I choose to recognize the feelings from which I pray.
I release any anxious feelings and pray with a sense of peace and positive faith. I become still and imagine only the best possible results. I believe that these outcomes will come to pass. As I use intentional faith, my mind and heart are at ease and my trust in God grows ever stronger.

Easter - a Time of Transformation
ionNew Creation
The power of God transforms my life.
Jesus knew that the darkness of the tomb held the promise of eternal life. In faith I move through times of challenge, even of sorrow, expecting good to be revealed through the activity of Spirit. In the midst of what may appear to be darkness, I open myself to new wisdom. With each experience, I emerge a new creation of Spirit.
Very truly, I tell you, you will weep and mourn, but the world will rejoice; you will have pain, but your pain will turn into joy.--John 16:20

Think on Purpose...
"You dont have to just think about whatever comes to your mind...Think on purpose...cast down that thought...and if you know the word of God then you can Think instead on purpose...
Don't make yourself upset by your thoughts...
Now when I wake up in the morning I choose to say:
Thank you Lord for this day, Thank you God that I can enjoy this day, thank you for my family, my ministry and show me some ways that I can be a blessing to someone. My happiness is not dependent on happenings but on the Joy of the Lord..."

Can You Make Candy?
Norman Vincent Peale relates a story about meeting a lady in Mississippi who told him: "I thought my husband would provide for me so that when he died I would'nt worry. But his estate was eaten up, and I've got to go to work or go on relief."
Norman didn't know how to answer, so he prayed: "Lord, gives us an insight for Miss Lou."...at the end of the prayer he asked Miss Lou, "Can you make candy?. She answered, "Now that is something I can do." Norman then asked her to make a pound of candy and send it to him.
Later Norman received a two-pound package of candy and replied to Miss Lou, to "Get busy merchandising that candy."
In his story, Norman suggested that when in Edwards, Mississippi to find a shop there called "The Sweetest Spot."
My searches for "The Sweetest Spot" were never successful until today. There is a postcard (postmarked May 1952) being sold on eBay that shows the actual spot where Miss Lou built her candy store. The sign shows the real name, Lou's Candy Kitchen and is located on the "sweetest spot on highway 80"!!!
Norman concluded: "Miss Lou found that by thinking creatively she could change her life...and by serving others, she became a great influence for good in the area where she lives."
May we be willing to ask the Lord to help us in a time of need and think creatively on how WE may serve others...

I Choose Positive Words Today
I choose positive words and experience positive results. The thoughts I think and the words I speak have tremendous power. They can influence my life in either positive or negative ways, for they affect the expectations I hold in my heart and the outcomes I experience in my life. Today I choose to use positive words. I make a conscious effort to think positive thoughts and to act in positive ways. By doing so, I open my life and the lives of those I pray for to the ever-present abundance of God.
If I am anxious about a particular situation or event, I change my thoughts about it. I approach it with new eyes--spiritual eyes. By expressing my faith in God and holding positive thoughts, my expectations are elevated to a higher level and the outcomes I envision are revealed in wonderful ways.
